I am delighted to welcome Shannon Jefferson, the creator of the amazing shop, Warm Sugar, back into this space with me! Shannon’s work has been featured in a variety of publications and websites including MTV New Zealand, Country Living Magazine, and coolmompicks.com. After looking through her shop there is no question why! All of her dolls are completely adorable down to every last detail.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Shannon: My name is Shannon Jefferson. I live in Peoria, Illinois with my boyfriend Mike, and our 2 sugar gliders Cleo and Enya. I’m a pescetarian and enjoy finding ways to live a clean, natural and handmade lifestyle. For fun I enjoy hiking, snowboarding when the chance arises, thrift shopping, and I’m a news junkie. My hobbies include collecting pez, red wine, live music, shoes, and learning to make clothes.
What is your favorite aspect of having your own shop and doing what you love?
Shannon: One of my favorite aspects of having the business is being able to use my creativity for each and every item made.
When did you first start making dolls?
Shannon: About 5 years ago I decided to do more sewing and bought a machine. Making dolls just happened. I’ve been learning along the way and only recently learned some basics like sewing a zipper and buttonhole.
Your dolls are very unique. How are you continually inspired to create them?
Shannon: Putting a doll together is like a shopping experience in itself. I go through a lot of drawers, shelves, and boxes of collected materials to find the perfect fabrics and supplies to use. I’m often asked, “How do you find anything in here?” …because my workroom is a bit overwhelming to any organized person:) It’s also great fun to take on custom work and put together a doll the customer envisions. It has me using color combos and ideas I wouldn’t have come up with myself.

The Pirate Baby dolls are out-of-this-world adorable! I love how you can customize them. The ones with the hearts as eye patches are my fave. I also love the doll pictured above with the pink glasses.
