gratitude and a good find

This weekend we headed to the market, where we saw every color of the rainbow in the food that we saw there. Bright beautiful alive food. We are so lucky to have access to this healthy food grown so close to home and have such easy access to it. To be grateful for the food we have is such a powerful thing.

After we left the market, and were walking back to our car, we spotted all of this lovely antique stuff sitting on the sidewalk. It looked really out of place. There was a lovely old old Singer sewing machine, a Michael Jackson kids suitcase record player, and this awesome old Royal typewriter, which were my favorites amongst the pile. Apparently this guy had just cleared out his recently passed aunt’s attic and just wanted to get rid of it all.

I wanted it all really, but I also try my best to balance out what I actually would use, and can afford…because even at dirt cheap, it still adds up. I’m not a person who has stuff just to have it collecting dust…it has to be used on a regular basis to warrant keeping in my home. So, we settled with just the typewriter. And such an awesome typewriter it is!! Hawthorn and Bella wrote “stories” on it for the rest of the day, and when Lake woke from his nap he tried it out too.

It’s kind of funny, because we had an older electic typewriter that we used for awhile, but it broke. This past week we used it for a take apart project. I mentioned to the kids, wanting to find a really old typewriter to replace the broken electric one anyways, and what do you know…it appeared right before my eyes! My weekend brought about a lot to be grateful for, in both big and small ways. I hope yours did too!
