Today, I’m a whopping 32 years old, young, whatever you want to call it…it’s my birthday! To celebrate, I’ve decided to give you 32 completely random tidbits about me. So in no particular order, here you go!
.) I am a certified scuba diver, although at this point I would definitely need a refresher course before I did a dive! It’s been awhile.

.) In college I had a pet rat, named Buttercup, who I carried around everywhere with me in a little bag. She could do some tricks too!
.) As a kid I only was comfortable wearing overalls, or sweat suits. I did NOT like wearing dresses.
.) I love to bake and create desserts and sweets. Especially when they are gluten free and I know no one could ever tell the difference.
.) One time, when I was little, I went to the grocery store with my dad. When we were leaving I got stung in the shopping cart. I was screaming and he had no idea what the heck happened.
.) Sometimes I am an organizational freak. I do not like cleaning, but organizing, yes!
.) I don’t like to wear shoes and would rather be barefoot. My feet show it.
::Penn Relays 1996::
.) I ran track in high school, indoor, outdoor, and cross-country. My 400 meter record, at the Penn Relays, was 3 seconds from Olympic time.
.) I used to sing my little brother “good night, sleep tight, don’t let the bed bugs bite” everynight. When he grew up he told me how that had scared the crap out of him.
.) In the summer my hair is usually in two braids. It’s my summer do.
.) My midnight munchie is a bowl of cereal.
::Kayla on bus 41, 2002::
.) I have my CDL license and used to be a school bus driver. I choose this (temporary) occupation so that when I was a single mom (with Kayla) I could still be a stay at home mom to her. She rode on the bus with me everyday, and loved it. Kinda funny though for homeschoolers.

.) In my partying days, I was a champion mechanical bull rider. Oh yea!
.) I’ve kissed the Blarney Stone.
.) My most prized possession is my camera. (I’m sure that isn’t a surprise;))
.) Two years ago I got rid of my cell phone and have been without one ever since.
.) I love the ocean, but am afraid to swim in too deep where I cannot see what lurks below. I think I can partly blame this feeling on seeing the movie Jaws as a kid. My kids would loose it if they watched Jaws and probablly would never leave the house again! Ironically, I feel okay if I’m all geared up in scuba gear. I can see everything underwater that way, which makes me feel much safer.
::Old Logger’s Path, PA in 2003::
.) When I first met my husband, I went back county backpacking with him and his friends in the complete middle of no where. Thirty miles up and down mountains. It was a great time and a huge accomplishment.
.) I have had three homebirths. Two of them were both water and lotus births.
.) I am the oldest of four siblings in my family.
.) In high school I played drum set…and snare in a drum line.
.) For five years I went to an all girls Catholic school.
.) I became vegetarian at 17, vegan at 19. At this point I am ever evolving, meshing, growing, and morphing my eating habits with what I feel is best, although primarily I am still vegan.
.) I love babies, it’s the kid part that gets me.
.) It used to bother me if the dinner dishes were still in the sink at bedtime…now, they can sit there for days for all I care.
.) I have a thing for old farmhouses. Especially the ones all run down and covered in vines. I always wonder about how long it’s been since someone lived there, who they were, if anyone was born there, or died there, if it were a family, if they had a garden. I have thoughts of reviving places like that, and making them real again.
.) Sometimes I bite the inside of my cheek.
::Shenandoah and Potomac River canoe trip, 2006::
.) When I was seven and a half months pregnant with Bella, Jason, Kayla, and I went on a 24 mile canoe trip down the Shenendoah River. My midwife thought I was nutts.
.) Sometimes I still feel like I’m 19. Then I realize I have an almost 10 year old, and I feel a pang of shock.
.) I’m not a saver. I do a really bad job at saving tidbits and creations my kids make. That’s one of my reasons for blogging…for them to have something to look back on someday.
.) Someday I’d like to hike a chunk of the Appalacian Trail.

.) I still love to swing on the swings. There’s something about it that soothes and comforts me. It sets me free, gliding toward the tree branches and the sky.
These pictures are not of the best quality. They were all scanned from oh, centuries ago…just kidding. I hope you enjoyed learning a little bit more about me. Off to enjoy my day with my favorite people EVER!
